Thunder Client is a boostraped startup company based in Dublin, Ireland, founded by Ranga Vadhineni. The Thunder Client extension was launched on March 31st, 2021, and since then it has garnered over 4 million downloads from developers worldwide.

Ranga had been using Postman for several years. However, he found that recent updates made it slow to load and its user interface confusing. Additionally, it required switching context between VS Code and Postman. To address these issues, he built Thunder Client, a lightweight extension for VS Code with a focus on simplicity, clean design and local storage. You can read more about it in the full blog post.
