Thunder Client, a lightweight REST API client extension for VS Code, was hand-crafted by Ranga Vadhineni with a focus on simplicity, clean design and local storage. The extension was launched on March 31st, 2021, and since then, it has been downloaded by more than 3 million developers worldwide.
Ranga had been using Postman for several years. However, he found that recent updates made it slow to load and its user interface confusing. Additionally, it required switching contexts between VS Code and Postman. To address these issues, he built Thunder Client, a lightweight VS Code extension with a simple and clean UI. You can read more about it in the full blog post.
